One talker at a time
Whoever presses first has the Floor. While they hold it the Channel is Busy, and your press is refused with a buzz. It is never queued, so nobody talks over anybody and nothing comes out late.
Nobody loses the first word. Every Transmission plays from its start, a moment behind live, even on a phone that had to be woken to hear it.
Missed one? Each Transmission stays in the Channel's log for about seven days. Tap it to hear it again.
Off means off. One tap, and the phone hears nothing until you tune again.

On your wrist
Hold to talk, switch Channel, turn the radio Off, and see who is Here and who is talking. The Channel you are Tuned to sits on the watch face.
On the phone, whoever is talking shows on the Lock Screen, and in the Watch's Smart Stack with it.

Getting in
Talkbak is invite only. Someone who runs a Talkbak server emails you an Invite; open it on your iPhone and you are in. There is no sign-up and no password.
Already have one? Open the link in your mail on your iPhone. If Talkbak is not installed yet, the link shows you a code to type in once it is.
Off the grid Not built yet
A radio should work where a phone does not. We are testing whether Talkbak can carry voice over LoRa between small radios in your pack, with no coverage at all. Nothing of it exists yet, and it may not pan out.
